Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q. When should I use a FOD screen?
A. Remember FOD screens are only good for keeping out large objects like grass, large rocks, etc. The most harmful objects to your engine are dirt and sand, which a FOD screen DOES NOT screen out! If you fly from a grass or gravel runway and are in need of a FOD screen, there are many screens that can be retrofitted to fit your engine.

Q. What is the recommended voltage for your ECU?
A. There are three generations of ECUs at US MicroJet. Generation one and two operate on 9.6 to 13.0 volts safely for all engines, with 12 volts minimum recommended for Electric Start applications. The Generation three ECU, will operate on 9.6 to 28 volts, with 12 volts minimum recommended for Electric Start applications.

Q. What is your warranty?
A. Our warranty at US MicroJet is a full two years on all new US MicroJet engines and six months limited warranty on our repairs. There is NO ADDITIONAL COST associated with our warranty. This is just part of the reason that the cost of ownership for a US MicroJet engine is less than anyone else in the industry. Another part of our low cost of ownership is the superior quality, longer lasting material used in our components, assuring you, longer intervals between servicing.

Q. What is the service interval?
A. We recommend that an engine be sent in for a checkup after every 100 hours of service. Note: Although 200 hours of service before rebuild is common, service greatly depends on the application and the environment in which the engine is operated.

Q. What is the cost of service?
A. The cost of service is $65.00 per hour labor, plus parts.

Q. How long is turn around time for repairs?
A. Our goal is to have repairs completed and back to you within two weeks of receipt (depending on plant backlog).

Q. Why do US MicroJet engines weigh more?
A. US MicroJet engines weigh more because our engines are built to last more than twice as long as any of our competitors. They are built with far superior materials, and engineered to meet the demanding standards of our customers! With Customers like NASA, the US and Foreign militaries, many Colleges and Universities, and the most discerning Hobbyist and Experimental Aircraft customer, US MicroJet sets its standards very high.
